Day 3. Even Pierre Mortefon struggles around the course but still wins. Start at 3:08:50
Sorry, been away from the computer for a couple of days and didn't post this right when it happened a few days back. Look at the other feeds for this series of races. It was crazy windy.
Tomorrow's forecast (ENE) is starting to shape up. My plan is to go 12-3pm unless it flops by morning
Thanks,
-Stuart
PvB captures a short session by Jaeger Stone
I keep finding things I have done in the past that I can no longer do. Example: Newspaper rock in the Petrified Forest. I used to look at it from 12 inches away, now the closest you can get is 200 ft. Another, I used to drive to the edge of the Grand Canyon, no way you can do that now. A couple of times I sailed from Kanaha Beach when I was able to drive my truck right up to the water. I was actually able to park the truck on the sand 20 ft from the water. That will never happen again.
Learning windfoiling at an accelerated pace can be brutal
Looks pretty awesome. Doest planing jibes, 17.7 knots. Who needs the store bought stuff?
Van Pugh lightwind zoom zoom session. Should be cool enough for wind to stick
If the forecast holds, I plan to sail Wednesday afternoon at Van Pugh.
Another 75 yrs young windsurfer.
are there any local retailers with boards and kits for sell? New to the board and look forward to meeting some members at Lanier.
For those unaware, the dome effect is a spring phenomenon where the colder water forms a chilled air layer just above and the wind is unable to reach the surface. You can often see clouds overhead moving quickly but no air at the surface. We've often thought that if only there was a way to harness the breeze above the cold layer. It may be that Kai Lenny has found the solution: the Carrot.
Dots just popped up today later in the day. I'm up in G'ville. If it looks breezy, I'll head to either LLSC or VP
If forecast holds, VP tomorrow after 3pm - size 8M
Class votes for smaller sails in an effort to widen pool of athletes. There's been a concern that current sizes of 9.0 (men) and 8.0 (women) prioritize higher than average weights (e.g. circa 95 kg/210 lbs for men) and make it difficult for Jrs to transition to senior sailing.

Please post if you're able to sail on Friday afternoon. I plan to sail at Van Pugh if the forecast remains favorable.
Update Fri. AM - Forecast is favorable for foiling at VP this afternoon. Will check radar before departing.
An enjoyable Sendit Sunday. Planing on an iRig, sending a windfoiler to the moon and big winds in Austria.
Considering 11am VP - anyone going that early?
April 26-28. Charter boards available… or ask me if you want to borrow an Equipe, S2 or IMCO longboard!

Friday footage after the wind relaxed a bit. I was already on shore worn out at this point.
Front coming through Thursday. Action possible Wed through Saturday with Friday looking like another off the chains day.
Slight chance of a sneaker session today with a south wind. Euro says no, HRRR says yes. It'll be interesting to see who wins this one.
Eclipse mania is in full swing. This is a nice explanation of how they figure out when it will happen.
Two ex-Atlantans came up and said hello today before I went out.
Glenn Tanner. Fred Dey and regatta host Eduardo Rodrigues (l-r) . Glenn was president of the club when I joined. Fred owned Windsense, our local shop, and was a Mistral factory rep /gear manager for the '96 Olympics in Savannah. Both live near here and learning how to wing foil.
Bring the small stuff. Looks like the peak winds (gusts in low 30s) will be around mid-day and then easing towards the afternoon.
I hope to play at VP mid-day.
