Windsurfers at Old Federal, not Van Pugh

This message is in Gene's behaf. Gene requested me to post this message. He and he and some other windsurfers are at OLD Federal, and not at Van Pugh as stated in a previous tread.

Kitters, if you think you are coming, OLD Federal is the place to be...

Rgds all, good sailing today.

Emilio.

Isn't that kind of like Luke Skywalker going into the Death Star

Old Federal Park or campground? Gene, what were you thinking? Might as well sail out from Chestnut Ridge. Ya need your open water, man.

We used the Old Federal Day use area where the Kiters have been launching. (see Barretts Post "Great Day Sailing"). The wind direction was way SOUTH west, 220 and 230, and we could see alot of caps in the middle at Van Pugh, but it would have been tuff to get to them. From Old Federal day use area, it wasnt bad getting out, sailed for a while on the other side of the islands, then easily worked our way up above the islands for longer runs and wide open fetch. It turned out great. I agree with Barrett, when the wind direction is 240 or maybe even 250, I think I'll head for Old Federal.

Sunrise or Two Mile Island. Either one, you don't have to "work your way out". When you work your way out of Old Federal, you end up above Sunrise anyway.
my opinion from sailing lots at Sunrise and looking downwind at Old Federal. Kiters could probably use Sunrise with the water down, too.

Uh, William, I think you are missing the point. The point is that our old buddy Gene is hanging out with the "dark side" crowd. He's got a trainer kite. He's taking kiter lessons. He's watching kiting videos. He's practicing that deep "James Earl Jones" electro/mechanical voice. It wouldn't really matter, now would it, if Anniken Skywalker was hanging out with the emperer at Sunrise Cove or on Tattouine? He'd still be heading for the dark side of the wind.

Just trying to out him Randy. He's trying to cover up his little "problem" with the excuse of "it's not that bad - you only have to work your way a little upwind" (yeah, like about a half mile).

Quite often in these cases, Randy, you have to break through the veil of denial. Why is he at Old Federal? What's his justification? Is it really an innocent attempt at a new spot or something more serious that he can't bring himself to admit?

Hey, Gene - remember to switch harnesses when you drink the Kool-Aid and get one with a handle on the back. There's a good reason they have them.

(All in good fun) Wink

i have a harness with a handle on the back. a sail that doesn't require a mast. a board that fits in the trunk of a small car. and a chance - a very small chance - that i'll get this new thing figured out before they pack me off to assisted living.

You turn your back just for a few moments, next thing you know everyone's a tea bagger, driving hybrid cars, no trailers, no roof racks, no stuck together masts, we’re not in Kansas any more Dorothy. Next thing you know the thing to have will be a battery powered air compressor for crying out loud, what’s going on here? My personal designated gasoline supplier will be so disappointed! Here’s the challenge, how many kites & boards can you fit in a 8’x8’x22’ cargo trailer?
