Wind Sunday? (June 6)

Sunday looks promising for a summer breeze and a good day for beginners. I plan to bring my 11 year old nephew up to Lake Lanier for his second time on a windsurfer. He tried it last summer and has been asking me since then. Based on tomorrow's forecast, we'll decide on where to launch. If it's SW, we'll go the the L.L. Sailing Club or Old Federal. If it's West, we'll go to Van Pugh.

Is anyone else going? Are there any beginners?

I'm going with my girlfriend to Old Federal as well. Yesterday was her first day windsurfing (at Galts Ferry)...

I should be at Van Pugh* around 10:00, as the forecast is for wind out of the West. 0753 wind report from Gainsville airport was W 13 G 21 MPH.

*Update: Make that Old Federal. Randy convinced me that's the call.

I'm in, not sure about the place.
LLSC web-cam is showing whitecaps, thanks Chris.

From my experiences, it appears that the Old Federal area is much less boat congested than the VP area on weekends. It seems that I always have some type of boat trouble or washing machine waves at VP when OF has less traffic and less washy waves. On weekdays it is probably better at VP.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Great day sailing at Old Federal. Sailed 8.5 and Formula from 11:00 to 3:30. Powered up most of the time expect for about 12:00 to 1:00 when the wind backed off. Loads of other sailors. Here's who I recall: Randy, Gene M., Gene #2, David W. (Hobie), Enis (above) and freind, Barrett and Nephew, Joe O., and Marcel. Sails ranged from 6.5 (Randy) to 9.9 (Joe).
