Im new to the forum and would like to get synched up with some folks in the area (exit 13/14 on GA400, 15 min south of Lanier) that kiteboard. I've been interested in learning how, and buying some used gear so i can get started on lake lanier.
I saw this trainer kite on ebay for about $150. Is that a good idea, or should i be looking at buying a used beginner kite? (i don't think the trainer kite is powerfull enough to actually pull a board)

Thanks,

Kiteboarding on Lake Lanier is tuff even for experienced Kiters. Ideal conditions for kiting include STEADY Winds, wide beaches to launch from, and shallow water definitely helps, none of which Lake Lanier has. But, there are a few Kiters who do kite on Lanier. Windsurfing is better suited for Lanier’s conditions.
Most Kiters take a few lessons on the coast, and then do most of their kiting on road trips. There is a yahoo group webpage the local Kiters use, but there hasn’t been much activity over the winter. They may have a new one I don’t know about.

As far as buying the trainer kite, personally (and this is just my opinion,) I’d spend that money on taking lessons.
Anyway, Kiteboarding is a lot of fun and is a great sport.
