OK - here's Monday's report.

I had a great time sailing yesterday, but it was cold if you didn't wear a hood. Scott said he had an ice cream headache after blowing a jump and falling in. I have to put a plug in for Gene at Wind Sense. He sells affordable hooded, neoprene vests that keep you warm in the middle of winter.

The wind was really strong, gusting over 30 mph, from the WSW. With the high water, there was a wide wind shadow along shore. Bill sailed out on a floaty board, but then got hammered when he reached the wind line. Chris V., Chris P. and I struggled out on small sails and boards, but were rigged right once we got away from shore.

The water and air temp. yesterday were both 45F. It never got up to the forecast high. Dave & Jim came out to watch, but didn't rig.

If the wind comes up, I plan to sail at Van Pugh this afternoon.

Tuesday was better than Monday with the wind out of the West and less of a wind shadow. I was powered just right with a 5.9m sail and 100 liter freestyle/wave board. Gene, Jim, Chris P, Bill & I sailed from around 2-5PM at Van Pugh. Bill was happy with the warmth of his new hooded vest.

Not this Bill, just to be clear. I've already been vested for some time. Hooded that is. -Bill H.

It was Bill Austin, new guy on wide board in all that wind, see my report on -

WindSense now only has one Large and one Medium Hooded Vest left. And the Meduim seems awful small.

Yesterday while sailing in 42 degree air temperature and 45 degree water, I didnt get cold at all until the very end when I was in the water alot, started sailing sloppy. I was wearing a 5/3 wetsuit, Hooded Vest, WindSense poly shirt, Palmless mittens and O'Niell 5mm Heat Boots. WindSense does have the Heat Boots and WindSense poly shirts in stock as well as the 2 vests mentioned above.

Dress for success and you can MAN-UP too.

Tuesday was a lot more fun, for me. Relatively small direction difference made for easier launch and return. Relative to temperature I was geared like Gene, but with thin palm full mitts and despite going in numerous times I was not cold.
