tueday 09/23 Marcel sees whitecaps

Marcel is at VP with strong winds east, NE, he sees whitecaps everywhere but he is sad, and lonely  , anybody joining him?

If somebody can join him, enjoy it for all of us!!

I'm trying to get out there, I'm on vacation this week looking for this opportunity, but I have an appointment I am trying to cancel. I will be heading out by 1pm....

Marcel had plenty of company sailing today. I had a great time from 11AM to 1PM with a 7 meter sail and 100 liter board. By the time I left at 2:30 there were seven windsurfers at Van Pugh plus Chris V. on his Hobbie Cat.

I started at 10AM waaaaay overpowered on 8.5 but hung on it until Barrett showed up and then rigged 7.0 which was the perfect choice and sailed until 1:30PM.

I ditched work and made it to Tidwell before 1. I am a bit of a newbie so yesterday was great. I hade some of my first CONTROLLED planing experiences. I dont think I was planing a majority of the time but it was enough to keep the stupid grin on my face.
I took a break somewhere around 2 after that it seemd to die off a little.

Welcome to the "club". That sensation will cause you to miss work, strain relationships with your family and become an insatiable animal you'll spend thousands feeding.

btw, that front footstrap, if you aren't using it, will turn an uncontrolled experience into something more delightful. Both footstraps and the harness, even more so. Keeping the sail sheeted in (paradoxical), extended from you, arms and legs straight will drive the board and keep it flat on the water and reduce that bouncy feeling that seems to mean that you are about to die.

thanks William, you just remind me of my early days while in high school missing class just to go to the beach and practice, even in the middle of winter when I did not even have enough money to buy a new wet suit and after windsurfing I was so tired and hypothermic that I fell asleep in the way back home on the floor of the bus with my face covered in sea salt. oh!! Those old days!!!
Now I want to ditch work too

Thanks for the input, I have been useing just the front straps for a little while but the harness for over a year. and yes I can feel the difference between the bouncing and skimming. Now if I could water start I would be set.
I did commit a cardinal sin yesterday. I got launched and the boom hit the nose and opened it up a little. I knew I should have stoped so it would not soak up any water but I was having too much fun. I have it drying right now hopefully I can fix it before tomarrow because it looks like it might be a good one.
