Sailed yesterday at Tidwell. Normally we think of this spot as good (well, I think its great) for E and NE. There is a pretty wide channel that opens to the south, so I've tried it longboarding a few times on S type winds and even some light sw. Yesterday I sailed 7.4 abotu 3 hours starting at 2:30 with a longboard again, and it turned out really well. Very solid planning for the first hour and last hour and a half, sort of a long lull in the middle. G-ville was reporting wind direction of 210-230 or so. Sometimes you had to make it to the wind line to get out to the wind. Anyway, the main point is that is there is a fair amount of south in it, this spot seems to work pretty well. Southish winds are always fairly unreliable, but for me at least this spot requires a lot less driving than any of our usual haunts (Sunrise, Old Fed).
Gene mentioned there wasn't much going on on the other side of the lake, but that may have been during the lull I mentioned. I think Chris sailed at LLSC with a longboard and big sail. Hopefully he will chime in on what conditions were like there.

I sailed from 4-7:30. 9.5 w/ Equipe was working pretty well... planing when it came up and cruising around otherwise. GPS sez 19.9 miles sailed, max speed 24.6, avg speed 7.4 (but that included a lot of parking to watch the the big boats racing). Fun to watch the starts– there were 40-50 out there. Gene came by and turned up his nose at it, but it was pretty fun for me... I like working upwind when it's light and when it fills in– centerboard up, mast back and let it rip downwind. :shock:
