You didn't see this here but look at the forecasts for Thursday/Friday. The best thing about not much wind forecast for Wed is that it will give Gene a reason to rest his hands and arms.
It's Blowing, with some NORTH in it. I'm heading to Van Pugh hopefuly get there between 10 & 11.
Yesterday was a good day, just a few sailors at VP, sail sizes between 7.5 and 6.5, some longboard racing practice (not me) for this weekends big Regatta.
Vann's Tavern was very nice this morning. Got in little over an hour and was lucky enough to have packed the trailer just as the drizzle began. My 6.4 was just right, barely ever fell off a plane in the lulls and had to hang on in the biggest gusts. As Gene said, it had a fair amount of N in it at the beginning but swung a bit as the wind freshened.
Gene, Bill & I sailed at Van Pugh. Bill & I rigged 7.0s & Gene a 7.5m. It was strong at first, then became gusty as the drizzle moved in. I sailed in a shorty & with a water temp. of 77F was warm despite the light rain. I had a great time & wished I could have stayed longer.
Got to Vann's Tavern shortly after noon. Wind died within 20 minutes. Watched it come up again over the next 30 minutes. Took out 7.5 and 148L Techno2. 7.5 was too much in the channel out of the wind shadow of the points. In the shadows was 5-15 mph. Shortly before I came in to rerig Chris Pyron showed up. He had rigged +/- 6.8 but when I told him 7.5 was too much for me he took out a 5.6 that appeared to be just right for him. I took out my 6.0 with the Techno2 148L (in case it died off.) Stayed pretty solid in the channel until 4:30, just after we'd both come in.
All in all, a very good day, despite the occasional light rain.

Now I remember why I liked autumn so much.
I'm skipping today, but plan to sail tomorrow (Monday). William, thanks for the heads up on the approaching cold front later in the week.

Planning to go to Vann's Tavern again for the afternoon today, Monday.
May your water be smooth and your winds be swift.
