Re: St Patrick Day at VP!

It blew today (Saturday) Except for 1/2 hour light spot, foiled all afternoon on 7.7 and new 800 wing. Hope tomorrow is as nice.
Several guys at Llsc were foiling with Lifts with folding props. They are so close to winging but just don't know it yet.
For Chris- temps close to 70, hung out with keelboats in the channel, went upwind to VP and saw Z out, headed back down and finished the Dat doing jibe practice among a bunch of Lasers and 420s.

Regarding using e-foil as a gateway drug to wingfoil, here are a few different views on the matter.

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.

Re: St Patrick Day at VP!

Today was amazing for windfoiling at VP. I spent close to 4 hours on the water, mostly gliding on the foil, with occasional slogging after the jibes. The wind was low the first 10-15 min of the session, until webguy left(thank you), and picked up to a perfect strength, for the light wind foiling gear, Ed and I had picked. We covered a lot of miles, flying over the water across the whole lake. It was an amazing day!

Happy to oblige. I'd gotten in a good 90 .minutes so I was in no place to complain. Left early to attend a great jazz concert at a small venue.

Glad you both had a good time and the wind held.

Added a shim to.the set up I was using yesterday. Just a sliver. I'll have to look up how much angle I added to my giant 190 stab but it helped the board balance nicely .I'd jibe and it was easier to stay committed to the straps at speed.

Update: still not sure of the shim angle but the thickness is 0.4mm.

Something worth noting is that both the Lifts in use yesterday and JBs FD2 have foiling props and are relatively low drag. You can surf them pretty easily with the motor off. Boards like the first video have fixed props and prop shrouds which are draggy. When you shut down the motor, the board has almost no glide and almost dump you off.
I suspect that's a big reason for the difference in the conclusions.

Edit: Surfing a Lift folding prop

Thanks for posting these great videos of wing-foiling with an E-foil, and E wave foiling.
