"Saturday. Mostly cloudy. Highs in the upper 40s. North winds 10 to
15 mph."
The models are showing 15+ knots even for Athens which gets lower predictions than Atlanta.
They did this to us last Friday, 10-15, and we ended up having gusts over twice that.
Ya know what I think? Someone is just trying to protect a parking space at VP.

It is pretty strange. After what seemed like years of overpredicting the wind, they seem to regularly underpredict it now. Some of the models (esp. avn) seem to be in the same boat. OTOH the olf MRF seems to be always saying 10-12 kt, even when there's nothing. Looks like were are on our own nowdays.

Todays (Sat) forecast now looks like it might be windy and temps in the mid 40's. If the sun comes out this afternoon, it might be a decent day. I may try to sail at Van Pugh depending on how hard it blows, how warm it gets and how sunny it is.

Also, keep your schedule open for Wednesday.

Gene,
Forecast now looks windy? It's looked windy since mid-week. I think that the NW 10-15 is the equivalent of the summer "High in the 90s, chance of thunderstorms, winds SW 10". It's what they put when they don't feel like predicting anything.
I'm with Randy- we'll just have to examine our own goat entrails from now on.
1:00 report from Van Pugh - There are caps, sky is blue with white puffy clouds, tempt isnt bad. Looks like maybe 15 -20, Randy F is planing on a 7.2 but with a Formula board.
I think I'll give it a try, it might turn out good.
