Road Trip Fred Howard Park Tarpon Springs - Thursday
I am headed to the keys this week, so I am leaving a day early to catch Fred Howard Park on Thursday. They are calling for 20 - 25 gust to 30 and 66 degrees. Shallow water. NW wind.
I am here. Today Friday 1/26 I am in Ft. Pierce Fl a couple of miles north of Miami. Fred Howard turned out to be only a high in the low 60's so I didn't want my wife to just sit in the car all day, so I changed plans.
I will be sailing Virginia Key today (Friday) with temps in the mid 70's and wind N at 15 to 20.
Then on Saturday I head to Key West were it is blowing too. Come join me.
Virginia Key did't work because I have a jet ski on my trailer and they would not allow the jet ski past the guard station eventhough it was going to remain on the trailer. Now I know what Dr King ment by " I have a dream".
Wind was a little on the light side eventhough forecast was forecast was 15 to 20. Drove around Key Byscaine (sp) and wondered why anyone would live there. Set up chairs on the casueway and rode my bicycle across the big bridge. Noticed some wind on the other side so I went back and relocated the van to the new north site. Sailed 8.0 for 2 hrs on a plane for 2/3 that time. Really different, sail in one direction and see nothing but 30 story condos and then sail back and see nothing but beach and trees. What a contrast. Air temp is 75 and water was warm. Shorty only. Met this homeless windsurfing guy who was quite familiar with Chris P. and Mike. Two other sailors out on this day.
Travel to Key West today. This is probably last internet access.
