Peggy & I are joined by Randy, Gene, Ted & Alain. We arrived with a dismal forecast of no wind for the first half of the week. Fortunately the forecast was off the mark, and we've sailed every day except since the day we arrived on Saturday. Today's sailing has been exceptional - 75F & sunny with wind in the mid 20's. The wind is still blowing, but at 4 in the afternoon, we're all worn out. North wind is expected tomorrow, and we're saving our energy.
When we arrived, we needed bug repellent to rig. Lingering mosquitos from standing water left by Hurricane Irene have now been blown away. Storm damage in Nags Head is minimal. It's now hard to see any sign the Hurricane passed through. However, south toward Waves, Avon & Hatteras the damage is still being repaired. The road south opened this week with a temporary steel bridge spanning a new inlet and other road breaks were filled in.

If you head south again, pics would be nice. Curious to see the new Rodanthe.
Glad to hear it's blowing up there.
Correction: The crew rallied for a second session. Even though the wind dropped, Randy traded his short board for his Kona and sailed in front of the setting sun. Turns out I'm the one who was worn out.
If the wind drops and we head south, I'll bring my camera.

Barrett sent me a punch of pics last night. I'll try to put up a gallery tonight.
Hopefully with tired, aching arms.

After sailing 9 days in a row, we finally had a forecast today of light winds from the East, so Alain & I agreed to rest up and not sail. Then late in the afternoon it warmed up, the clouds cleared and the wind ramped up to the low 20's. We couldn't resist & headed out for what turned out to be a fun Halloween chasing each other in front of the setting sun.
