Antoine rocks it.
Antoine Albeau has broken the windsurfing speed world record, at the 2015 Luderitz Speed Challenge, in Namibia. The French sailor hit the 53.10 knots (98.34 km/h) and smashed the previous record set at 52.05 knots. Wind conditions improved dramatically in the last days of October, and windsurfers kept raising the bar in the iconic speed channel.
98.34 kmh translates to 61.1 mph in freedom units.

Sail looked like 4-5 meter? Wind 50 kts.
It's hard to fathom getting much faster on a board... kite maybe a little. But no way I can imagine beating the Vestas Sailrocket's 65+knot record (in 25 knot wind). Check out the apparent wind angle on the vane in front of the cockpit:
The old record holder, Hydroptere, did a long crossing, I think in the Mediterranean where their average speed was something like 45 kts.
My bad, should have mentioned that Karen Jaggi set the women's record, too.
Since she's about half the size of Albeau, just as impressive.
