For E-NE winds I use the cove to the right of the beach. For W-NW winds I use the area between the jetty and left of the beach. I don't use the ramp unless the lower parking area is closed.
i was thinking about going upthere thisweekend, i have just received my material, but hte wether doesn't look very good, where do you check wind conditions for the lake?
Use several places and use the average forecast and personal experience to guide you. There are marine MOS links from this site. Wunderground.com, weather.com, cobb county airport has a phone in number, look at the trees if you live near the lake, watch for posts on this site. Then get burned a few times by going out by relying on a single forecast. Eventually you will develop you own personal guide of what is good and what is not good. This will change over time as you get more experienced.

went to galt's wasn't crowded thank to the casted day. I was able to rig my only sail 11.9 and my formula 158, very mild wind, a couple of planes . Balance; good day of warm up after 4 years of not sailing. and need to work out, good lord this sail is heavy (or I am out of shape)
i am new to Atlanta windsurf, do you go through the beach or do you use the ramp?

good advice....I have had fairly good luck on using weather.com's forecast for Acworth when going to Galts
