Midwinters

Hey folks time is almost near for midwinters at Calema in balmy warm Florida. I'm heading down Wednesday, Feb 28 and staying till March 5 or 6th depending on the forecast. I'm staying at the new Residence Inn only a few clicks form Tinho's place, and Gene is planning to camp at nearbye Jetty Park. I will have the entire family with me so no extra room in the hotel this go round. I'm taking my kite, surfboard, landsailer, trailer full of windsufing gear and Kona to inusre I have something to do. Anyone else come on down to the warm shallow water of the bananna river, near cocoa beach.

As Danny noted and as I previously posted, I will be heading down to hang out at the Mid-Winters also. I will be camping at Jetty Park, heading down 2/28 and returning 3/5 or 3/6. Join us!!

Talked to Gene this AM. Says there was big winds (7.0 - 6.0 or better for mere mortals) on Thursday and Friday. More of the same expected for today. So windy even the big name pros rigged "only" 11.0's. Lots of amatuer racers had to be rescued, and not to be outdone by NASCAR, two of the pros collided. One ended up in the hospital, but thought to be ok.

Gene said the warm water and high temps (low 80's) were really hard to take.

Actually-

2 Pros did run into each other, one went to the hospital ER but was not admitted, hurt leg, but rumors were were he was in the hospital.

and

Thurs (6.0) and Friday (7.0 then 6.0) were windy and warm, (south wind), Thurs was sweet, Fri was tuff i.e. on and off.
Sat was lite and Danny helped me fly my kite.
Sunday late it came up enough to run 8.3.
Monday morning session on 7.0, then headed home in the afternoon.
Sun & Mon were cooler.

Good trip overall but missed having a big group from Atlanta like several years ago.
