Re: Leap Day

I sailed the Baby Gorge today - not the easiest day to sail there. Lots of current and choppy wind, but I made a go it. Saw Chrispy - but he decided to try his chances at Lanier.

Re: Leap Day

I rode my bicycle with head winds. Thought about surfing but then I remembered this is still winter and the water is cold.

Did seem a bit gusty. Tim Carter used to say that the water is always the coldest in March. And that is a direct quote.

Re: Leap Day

Could be. I called just now and they said it was 49 degrees. Last time I called (few weeks ago) it was 50. By the end of the month it should be better. I'm not sure if this year really count though since this has been the lamest excuse for winter I've ever seen.

I'm pretty sure it feels the coldest because the air temp is higher. Going into 50 degree water when its 70 and your sweating in a black wetsuit is probably a lot worse than going in when its 45 in both and you're in a dry suit.

Re: Leap Day

On Friday I sailed with Shred Dog at Van Pugh and the Corps reported the water temp. was 46F. It felt like it wading into the cove to launch. But the air was warm, wind steady & we stayed on the dry side of the board. Glad to hear it's warming us so fast. Tomorrow looks promising with NW wind.
