Juliette speed course

Lake Juliette water levels are the lowest I have ever seen them. The best part is there are two new sandbars (red clay bars) exposed that are perfectly positioned for beam reaches with a NW wind and some of the smoothest water that I have ever sailed on. (even smoother than Hugenot park)

Where on Juliette is the launch? Does the power plant warm the water much?

Sounds like an event in the making.

Especially, if the water is warmer. That made the drive down to West Point worthwhile a few times.

Re: Juliette speed course

Last time we went they had changed the combination to the gate so we launched from the boat ramp, its only tough to get out on NE or East winds. The water is a little warmer not really that noticeable though.

Even though it doesn't count (Thanks Gene) hopefully I can beat my best GPS speed.

If anybody ever wants to sail West Point give me a call. I rode the Mtn bike trails
there last month and noticed the Dam area has a nice long fetch and should be great on any Northerly Direction.

By sheer coincidence, I'm right now writing up the wiki article on West Point. I've been there a few times. It's a blast on NW or NE. I'll be done in a bit.

It can be a lot warmer down there. Once, there was a NE "wedge" (cold air pushed from the NE along the base of the Appalachians, future wiki article). I left church on Clairmont Rd and it was about 45 degrees. I was stunned to watch the temp drop about a degree every 5 miles on the way to Lanier. About 20 miles in, I turned around and drove south. Had a great day at West Point in about 54-55 degree weather.

Yeah, it was worth it. About 70 miles from I-85/285 junction below the airport.
