They musta missed us. Word is windsurfers are invited back to this fantastic panhandle venue at Navarre Beach. Save the date: Sept 11-13 (racing Sat & Sun only). Details to follow.
Juana's event started as, and still is, a big multi-hull thing. As I recall there were several classes for boats– beachcats, hotrods like A-cats and a couple divisions of cruising catamarans & trimarans. They will do a long distance race one of the days for both cats and boards. When I went, the WSing entries were a broad range of abilities and seriousness... mostly very non-serious. You might could do the LD day on a big slalom board, but the triangle or windward/leeward day would be a long raceboard or formula deal.
It's a great set-up: restaurant right there, modestly priced motels nearby and of course the infamous Juana's Pagodas on the whitest, white sand you ever saw. It's a nice piece of water for WSing or cats, protected by a low barrier island so you get flat water but good wind exposure. There's enough stuff to do for non-sailing spousal units too.
What a deal on the registration– $30... cheaper than staying home.
Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms. High near 83. Breezy, with a southeast wind between 10 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Looks like some kind of low spooling up in the gulf.
I'm in if I get this work done.
I sure have missed a lot of sailing this summer.
I will be ready for fall.

Maybe that increased rain chance is about inland areas (from the seabreeze)??
hmmm... new f'cast this a.m.
