Jekyll

Heading there this weekend for a 4 day trade show. Been there all 3 years in may and to be honest, never enough wind to plane. Maybe its the time of year. Plenty of launches. I have seen 2 or 3 kiters out on big stuff. I was going to bring my equipment to sail inbetween booth duty at the show, but I think the wind is just to weak and generally offshore. Hope this helps.

Watch, not it will crank all weekend while I am attending the conference. Trey

You have had some pretty bad luck Trey. Tybee and Jekyll typically get decent afternoon sea breezes (5.8-6.5 wind, well maybe that isn't enough for you to plane -- you got that tiny board).

Probably no wind because of all the golfers, they are praying it away........it's a Conspiracy I tell ya!

I noticed on google maps there is a big pier and parking lot on the north end of the island, Hopefully other than strong tides that will be a decent spot to sail from.

You do not want to sail from the Jekyll pier...Maybe from kite beach, which is front and center on the ocean. Better would be to join us at St. Simons at the old Coast Guard station where we have parking, rigging in our sailing compound, and flat water or waves right out front depending on the tide. Also, west sucks here (go figure) but it's about time for mostly E to S, as it warms we get alot of sea breezes...But, we had SSW 22-25 yesterday...nice, a bit gusty for here ...that's the thing, lots of change can happen next to all this water! Come to WINDFEST on May 31/ June 1.

Thanks ...David Wade warned me about sailing at the pier too.
Looks like my best option will be St Simons.

We can't make it to Windfest this year but we will be down there 6/8-6/13
looking forward too it.

We are headed down June 8th straight from Charleston and staying at the Jekyll Island campground until the 13th. It's going to be more of a bicycling vacation for the kids but I am taking some WS gear just in case it gets windy.

Allergies got the best of me this weekend, I hated not being able to make it up and ride Sunday, I bet the place was packed.
