I volunteered to put a WSing thing together again this year for Junior Week at LLSC. We did this last year and it was a HUGE hit. In the What-can-we-do-better Survey at the end of the week, the most common reply was "More Windsurfing".
There was a broad range of ages, from 6 y.o. first time sailors to "expert" teens-with-'tudes, but they all got wet and had a great time. For some, it was just a taste of WSing, but a lot of them totally 'got it' in just a few minutes and were out sailing solo, tacking and grinning from ear to ear. Chris Pyron was awesome with some of the youngest ones-- parking them on the front of his Superlight and giving rides they're probably still talking about. William & Simon Fragakis taught and loaned kid stuff. Pam Barron and some of the LLSC WSers helped too.
Junior Week is a sleep-over deal for the older kids, day camp for the under 10s and I think for all of them, it's one of those summer vacation things you remember forever. The days are non-stop (boat) sailing with an emphasis on racing. The windsurfing afternoon is a chance for them to get loose and do something really different and just for fun.
So, if I can get some more of the brethren out to help, and round up a few more beginner boards and kid rigs it would be that much more fun. If you have a kayak or jetski, etc for chasing/retreiving, that would be a big help too. The whole thing lasts just a few hours (plus a little rig/derig time). Also, dinner & libations are provided for all them what helps. Please give me a call if you can lend a hand. 404-386-8505

I guess i should read the topic first huh... im just a dummie
Anybody up for this?... it'll be fun I swear. Mark your calendar. If it's windy that day, instruction might be hard, but come over anyway and do a demo of real windsurfing. "Do it for the children".
Also, John Jordan I need my kid stuff back!
I am up for the event, to help with anything possible, don't have any beginner material but I guess a pair of hands will always help. please let us know date and time.
Same here. Sign me up for helping out anyway that works.
