Hilton Head session with Tim Carter!

I was in Hilton Head last weekend and had the chance to meet up with Tim Carter. In case you guys did not know - he is living the dream. We sailed out of the Sea Pines Beach Club. A really cool place that reminds me of Santa Barbara or something. More importantly there was enough wind to sail. I kited. Tim windsurfed, and his friend the Dentist ( what was his name again) also kited. He was very good - on some funky ram-air deal. I was pretty much in rookie mode, I did two circuits: Where you kite down wind and walk back up the beach.

Tim helped me launch my 10 m^2 kite. The crouds thin a enough to either side of the beach club and that enables kite launching. My 15 would probably have been better, but that was hard to call as the wind came down a bit in the afternoon instead of increasing. Tim did these super long reaches way out into the ocean - very cool. While kiting I saw a dolphin - fun stuff.

I also met another guy the next day, Shey, I think his name was and he was kiting "down wind" wind was from the south east, so blowing up the shore). He dropped his kite outside, but near where my kids and I were boogie boarding and I helped him bring his kite in. At first he wanted me just to keep away - good idea in general, but I told him I was also kiter. I mentioned Tim and of course he knew him.

Tim - it was great to see you. Thank you for sharing your local spot. "Next time" I will get more water time...

Richard - It was good to see an old Van Pugh buddy. The day you got here was our first breezy day in 5 days. I've sailed every day since then - couple of 5.5 sessions and 4 days on the 6.5. Sea breezes will start to fire soon. In fact, it's about time to head to the beach now.
