Fla. Keys windsurfing Report

Just got back last night.
1st day at Miami - 8.0
2nd day at Marathon Key - 6.6
3rd day at Cudjo key - 6.6 and put the jet ski in
4th day at Naval station just outside Key West - 5.5 blowing 20 - 30 wore me out
5day wind was light 15 - 20 did not sail, rested - put jet ski in
6th day 8.0 and put jet ski in
7th day blowing 5 - 10 no sailing just jet ski
8th day blowing 5 - 10 no sailing just jet ski
9th day had to fly home but wind was 15 - 20 missed it this day

Each day was either high 70's or low 80's. Never even used a wet suit. Water was about the same temperature as Maui, cool but not cold. Sea weed gave me touble on two days and also clogged up the intake on the jet ski. Had to get off the ski dive under and clear the clog, but they told me there were no sharks so not to worry. Lots of sea weed when I left. Sea weed was brough in by south winds. First few days I was there wind was blowing from the North and the air was very dry. Then the wind shifted to the South and there came the humidity. On the day I left, I was sweating big time just hooking up the trailer.

Then I come home to Atlanta and find sunny skies and 40 degrees.

I am heading back down to the Keys on Feb 19th to join the Shell Point Windsurf club at Fiesta Key. The campground was only about 50% occupied when I checked it out. Low bookings because everyone thought they were going to close after being sold. My van and jet ski trailer are in long term parking at Miami airport.

Sounds like a fun trip in the Keys. Today is forecast to be West 15-25. Hope you have gear here in Atlanta.
