Re: Anyone familiar with Corpus Christi & S. Padre Island?
been there once, Very nice people, one very large well stocked shop. Large beach-sparse accomodations but lots of options. The land is soft no rocks- nice slow grade out to deeper water. The water is murky. I experienced very steady strong winds and limited wave action. Seemed very similar to the outer banks. Texans are the real deal- and quite friendly. I plan to go back at some point.
Re: Anyone familiar with Corpus Christi & S. Padre Island?
CC is on the agenda for my next trip with Drew. Looks like dirt bikes are out since there is no awesome scenery out there.
We will drive. I thought about getting into a little Louisiana back country on the way out to break up the trip. I have no interest in New Orleans, been there done that.
I already know that there is shallow murky water ( hoping no bull sharks like Fl. ), nice steady wind 5.5 to 6.5 in May, May is best month and meets my schedule too, shop is rigged and ready but I will probably bring my own gear if I drive. Probably condo in CC and sailing at S. Prade.

Never been, but know WhirledWinds proprietor, Randy Rhodes. He was one of the young guns back in the 90s racing heyday. Super nice guy with a young family now, he's an (old-school) freestyle expert... spent a lot of years at the Gorge. Keep us posted on plans– got an empty nest ahead
Not familiar but intrigued as I've always wanted to go. Supposed to blow like hell. Are you driving or flying?
Water should be about a thousand degrees warmer than Oregon. Maybe you already knew and, thus, the reason for your thinking about it?
