I thought a race sail plus race mast was bad but that's almost the same price...
If there was a better cost benefit of winging it would definitely have an advantage over windsurfing/windfoiling. It's not seeming like the case, at least for new gear. I guess there's a lot more recent used wing gear out though.
It will be interesting to see how the Fusion compares to the Gong DP (dual Panel) Pulse UPE.
The DP Pulse has won its long distance races. But the Gong team does not use them in Slalom races. They were saying take off and turns have some disadvantages.
IIRC their new UPE Material is the same a weight as Aluula something like 82 or 85 Grams per meter, with some sort of cross hatch added laminate to add strength. I think someone said they are putting 12 PSI in the 5m.
Nice thing is the DP is much easier on the wallet.
Wasn't aware of the Gong. just with race luff sleeves in windsurfing, that half double panel probably is a much cheaper and easier way to make a clean foil and less likely to fill with water.
I like that video because of that narrow, downwind shaped board. Almost makes me want to try winging again. Wonder how hard it is to get that thing going. Looks like a lot less of a hassle to carry that in the waves vs. the big foilx I've got.

Interesting - he's on Phantom foils (Nico Goyard's sponsor). I think the days when most windfoilers can diss slow wings are numbered.
I'd hate to land on a foil after a 12m jump; that's a new kind of hurt. Kind of funny seeing the foil running off on it's own.

One of the appealing aspects of that wing is the speed it can obtain in low wind conditions.
A video of 110kgs "Bear" going 30 knotts in IIRC sub 12 Knott's.
The Gong crew also has some high jump records over 15 meters.
Personally nether 30 Knott's, or 15 meters, sounds like any fun ? maybe one day?, nope ?
