Thumbs up to Gene for checking and taking a pic - not that the park is closed. That's a bummer for a lot of us. With the lake down 6 ft, a lot of space had opened up along the shore.
Saturday - Van Pugh had a lot of wind and a big turnout, Windsurfers, Wingers, and Windfoilers, I think there may have been more wings than sails? It blew hard all day.
Sunday - Van Pugh, Randy e-foil winged, Hamdi and Channey Windfoiled on 8.0s, I hung around. Not being impressed with Hamdi and Channey, I decided to pass and then... it came up and blew a couple of hours. You're welcome.. I missed it, I was tired from Saturday anyway, yeah, that's it.
Saturday went to the LLSC because I was able to harangue two boatmates into giving things a whirl and Bailey, our skipper, wanted me to try his efoil. I was pondering winging but the very N component on the wind made the wind line very far out and the shadow of the campground meant bobbing out in about 5 mph of wind a long way before hitting the raging whitecaps.
Jeff, a former windsurfer, tried windfoiling and got in a few flights. He was absolutely stoked and excited. It was very different than what he used to sail - 80 liter boards and bigger sails. He was on a 135 l. board with my Chopper L which has the area of a 4.2 and power of a 4.7. Bailey floated out to the wind line and felt the whitecaps were above his pay grade and retreated. Can't blame him. Even though I've efoiled before, could not get up on the dang thing this time and felt like I was on probation in the "Foil Club". I windfoiled a 4.7 and Chris had a 5.5.
Sunday, I dilly-dallied and didn't get to the club until about 3:15 and looking at the readings from Gilmer, my timing was perfect. Rigged the 8.0 and was pretty much fully to overpowered all afternoon. Cruised down to LL Islands, did a bunch of upwind/downwind practice and headed back to the LLSC for about an hour more of the same. Brilliant clear blue skies but gusty at times.
I guess Van Pugh will be the spot for Saturday.
Anybody know if the park is still crowded on weekends or do we still have to get there early to get parking?
Also is it true that Old Fed park is now closed?
Crowds are gone at VP.
Looks like Old Fed is done for the season. https://www.sam.usace.army.mil/Missions/Civil-Works/Recreation/Lake-Sidney-Lanier/Schedules/
We'll find out shortly, the top list has it closed like last year but scroll down to the list of day use parks and it's listed year round
I've got a call in. I hope it's a typo on the page. Meanwhile, Weathercat (NWS) has gusts in the mid-20s in the afternoon.
Closed!

Count me in for Saturday
I may run a bit late today. Need to do some work on my truck.

Headed to llsc. Friend wants to try wind/wingfoil
Where are others going? LLSC or VP?
Also, I’m bringing my windsup and wing, I’m happy to share if that would help your friend
