Van Pugh, 9:15 - LOTS of Caps, Tempt is around 39 degress, the sun is out, PLENTY of WIND with alittle bit of North in it. I dont want to jinx us, but I'm guessing it's 5.0 conditions or maybe smaller. I dont think it's going to get alot warmer, so I think I'll try to get an early start, maybe 10 or 10:30.
You aren't going to miss any wind by waiting but Gene is right - the temp is on a downward slope all day. It'll be approaching freezing by afternoon. As your mommy would have said, "dress warmly."
PARTLY SUNNY. A 30 PERCENT CHANCE OF SNOW SHOWERS IN THE
MORNING. WINDY. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 30S. NORTHWEST WINDS 15 TO
25 MPH INCREASING TO 25 TO 30 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON.
Same at Lanier. Wind was kind of gusty but there was plenty of it. Marcel, Joe (the animal) O, and I sailed 5.0-5.2. It lulled down some (relative) alittle after noon, and Marcel packed it up. Then it came right back up and Joe & I made a few more runs. It was getting kind of intense, and cold, tempt started at high 30s and ended in low 30s. I came in and was packing up and noticed Joe was rigging a 4.2, but he changed his mind when it was tuff just rigging it.
For some reason, people hear the forecast and think: fifteen to twenty-five mph.
What actually is being said: 15-2-25.
Northwest tends to be gustier than plain west. Someone explained it to me but I forget why. It's probably the most variable wind outside of tropical events. I don't think that NW is the direction that comes most directly over the mountains helps either.
The other wind directions aren't quite as punitive.
Too cold for me, I'm out.

We might shoulgd try to get out earlier than later, as tempt might be dropping fast. I'm thinking like 10 or 11 this morning.

Insanely gusty. Is it always like this here???
No, not always... it's usually much worse

Tomorrow? Maybe, but probably not.

What size kite did you put up?
9 but I couldnt even keep it in the air long enough to put my boots on. I don't ride straps! Gave up after getting lofted once.
Yep "if you can sail Georgia's gusty winds you can sail anywhere!" I believe that was a Ted Turner quote.
