Old 41 Opens Today

Hopefully this is not an April Fools day joke. For those unfamiliar, Old 41 is a launch on Allatoona that favors S, SW and WSW. May come in handy over the next few days, Toona being a smaller lake is somewhat less susceptable to the dreaded Dome.......No promises. For some reason the link below doesn't work, so just copy it and paste it into your browser and you will get there.

Here is info from the Wiki

Re: Old 41 Opens Today

I had a great session with Randy there before. Not that big of an area but comparable to other Allatoona spots. Surprisingly, not much upwind on a SW in terms of terrain so the wind is relatively smooth. Pretty close for a lot of folks, too. Flat water and minimal boat traffic during the week would make it an ideal wing spot for learning.

Thanks for posting, Randy!

I used to go there from time to time. For SW it has a very nice fetch and could be quite good at times. It's a bit hard to find (those were the days before phone GPS apps). It is fairly far up on I-575. It is a Woodstock county park, so COE passes don't get you in. $7 for parking for non-residents of Cherokee country.. Sweetwater is a COE park that is a bit farther SW of Fields, but it takes a while to get there as it is on the west side of the same channel.

Thanks Randy, old 41 sounds good, and Tuesday calls for SW wind. I will most likely head up there after traffic calms down.

I'd forgotten that it was in wiki. I was mainly going there around 2006-2010 when my daughter was going to college nearby.

Without you, the wiki would be really thin in spots. Our many thanks for your contributions.
