I'm very much wanting to sail, and monday could be windy, but all things considered, the lanier forecast looks not so great - wind S-SSW (problematic) with 60% probability of substantial rain. Right now NWS hourlies for Julliet predict stronger winds and lower chances of much lighter precip, so I'm thinking of going there. From the boat launch there should be wind, even though getting to the open may require a lot of short close reaches. Any interest? ChrisP

I'll check the weather outlook in the morning in case it appears to be worth the drive south. Chris, if you decide to go, post an address for when & where you will launch.

I've decided to try sailing Lake Lanier this afternoon. The wind is now forecast to be SW, turning more Westerly. Hopefully the rain will pass in time to sail.

I might be talked into Sunrise Cove. If it is going SW and it usually does even when it calls for W then I think SC is a good choice.
Water is low. Lots of hazzards out there.

Pretty rainy looking at lanier - did not go to julliet, but looking at conditions and forecasts, I wish that I had.
What a bust! Joe O, Bill A and I went to Van Pugh, Old Fed and Sunrise Cove just as the rain came in. What little bit of wind we had went away, NOTHING.
According to WindMapper, it should be blowing 17 to 36 from the SW right now. When we were at VP, it was 5-10 form the W/NW. Now it's ZERO.
Maybe tomorrow.

Jon and I went to Juliette today. SW Good direction, powered most of the time on a 6.6, 7.0.
Lake levels are the lowest I've ever seen, It a good 2 feet below the bottom of the boat ramp but the good thing....no weeds and lots of sandbars for silky smooth speed runs
