BTW - any of you who wonder if you missed anything this weekend, given the 10-20+ winds reported from G-Ville. You did not. I sailed my Serenity both days. Sat was 3-6, Sunday was at best 5-10, mainly in the 6-8 range. While I enjoyed it Sunday, it was not a planning day absent a formula board and 11 M+ sail. (Even then I doubt it.)
G-ville just can't be counted on for a SW or W wind these days. Probably the sailing club web cam is more reliable. I called G-ville airport about it and told them I was at the lake and the wind was 7-8, while thier recording said 14-20 and the guy says "Who you gonna belive - me or your lyin' eyes?"

Thanks for the report on weekend conditions. I was really tempted to go on Sunday, seeing the airport wind reading and gusts in the trees. SW wind is often unreliable. Glad you had the Serenity to take advantage of the conditions.
The wind was variable at Oconee, see history below, however I had quite a few good planing runs. SW is not ideal for where I sail on Oconee. I did manage to work my way upwind. Vmax 22.7

After Barrett's post, I couldn't help but muse on a corruption of a familiar aphorism. ... grant me the serenity (the board, the attitude? Maybe both.) to take advantage of the conditions.
On a note not completely unrelated, I stopped by Green Pond at lake Hartwell on my way back from Greenville and did a very little bit of sailing. The forecast was encouraging but conditions just weren't there for shortboarding - a few puffs, mostly light & iffy. Ira was there, hasn't been getting out lately due to air temps. Jim W. - if you get a windy day, go to Green Pond for anything but East.
At one point, the wind died so hard I couldn't even uphaul. Weird.
I'm in if it blows, although it might be too warm (71 degrees.) Probably later in the afternoon, 3:00 or 4:00.

I'll be sailing spreadsheets today. Have fun.

The wind is picking up in Decatur, so I'm heading to Van Pugh. Expect to arrive 3:30PM.

That's going on my wall of all time quotes.
I joined Jim, Gene & Scott for a warm & sunny afternoon of sailing. Sail range 6.0-7.5. The wind came up as forecast, then dropped off at 5PM.
