While Manning UP* yesterday in the brutal cold at Van Pugh Park we saw construction underway. With no one but windsurfers using the Park during the middle of the winter, the Corps in undertaking a project to armor the shoreline. An earthen ramp is being constructed so heavy equipment can be driven down to the shore. The supervisor told me that rip-rap (crushed rock) will be placed around the gabions after they are backfilled with earth.
The Park is still open, just launch away from where the crew is working.
*Randy, yesterday was the perfect day to prove your manhood - where were you???

Barrett,
First of all - its spelled manning up. Manning up sounds like some football guy. So if you guys are going to man up, at least spell it right.
Second, I was proving my manliness by smiting (or is it smoting) my opponents in the business world. Sort of generating some GDP. Someone's got to pick the cotton.
Finally, I heard it was really really really cold, yesterday and my inner wimp said "oh no - you might fall in and get wet. And cold."
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
