While in Bonaire last week I asked a beautiful freestyler, Maxime van Gent, if she would sail with me for a GoPro photo. I sailed, she jumped, and I offered to sent the picture to her. It turned out she was on her last day of practice before heading to the Canary Islands for a competition. Here's a short video posted from the start of the meet, followed by my GoPro photo with the camera mounted on my boom.

Cool photo!
Barrett
Did she teach you any of those fancy moves?
Seriously, that is one cool pic.

I wish. Despite watching up close while sailing, Maxime's amazing moves happened so smoothly and fast that I have no idea what she did. She made it look easy, but said it took endless practice. I took one "freestyle" lesson and learned there's a lot of control needed before even starting. The lesson was actually "freemove" on a big board. Without practice, I seem to have already forgotten what I briefly learned.
Bonaire is the place for freestyle - warm, shallow water, sand bottom, same wind direction. Maybe I'll try some basics if we have light wind days at the OBX this October.

Pic of the year candidate.
Uh, Barrett, I didn't see you in that video......
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
Great shot Barrett! Look at that clear water and some of that nice scenery of Bonaire! Twist my arm, let's go back!
