Re: It Snowed today but I am going to sail anyway.
That was so cool, I will reward everyone (who is still reading at this point) with another awesome KITE VIDEO. The snow didn't keep me away from the lake yesterday. (I know, some of you are saying - not only is he sailing the lamest setup, he's doing at the baby pool. Oh well, can't please everyone.)

I can go upwind on land. I'd be settled for sailing across the wind. I'm halfway there now - 45 degrees off the wind. My windsup has a center fin so I might get there with that, but I hate to experiment on my new board until I figure out the steering system, etc. (Which involve things like drilling holes in it, etc. Not a big problem on an old plastic poly board which doesn't absorb water. A bit different on a new one.) Until then, I"m a prisoner of the beta theorem.

Reading that article just reminds me: I am not a smart man. Ouch. I"ll go back to reading articles on string theory or Dr. Seuss.
This was pretty helpful.

Speed sailing windsurfers have an apparent wind angle somewhat worse (greater) than 30 degrees, and accordingly their speed sailing courses are set for a broader sailing angle than this. Speed sailing kite boards prefer an even broader course than windsurfers. By contrast, the highly efficient Vestas Sailrocket has a design Beta of about 20 degrees (the hull is offset this amount from the centreline) and this is how close to a beam reach she may have been sailing.

This pic cries for Photoshop but I'd rather spend the afternoon on the water. Maybe when I get home.
Where was the pic taken?

Never got a chance to go today so I decided to roll out my photoshop equivalent.

Avatar? WTH? Are you ever satisfied?
(btw, liked the video. When are you going to make those things go upwind?)
