Hey everyone... new to the site and the area. Any idea what the wind is going to be like up there today? About an hour drive for me and want to make sure it will be worth it. Also, where is Gault and VanPugh? I know where the Federal Campground is but not the other two launch sites. Thanks!!
Hey Randy... thanks for the response, I did try to check out the Wiki but the link appears to be broken. I did manage to find Van Pugh's by searching around on the web, but still am not sure where to go for Gaults. Likely am not going to be able to make it out today at this point, but am looking forward to meeting everyone soon!

Link fixed. Recent update broke it. Sorry about that.
So any sailing today at Van Pugh or elsewhere on Lanier? Micah, Eddie and I sailed Galts - Micah on 6.5, me on 6.2 and Eddie on 9.5 (I think he indicated it was too big). I thought it was really a good day - hit 24.6 mph, while not that impressive, pretty close to my personal best (27 MPH in 25kt at obx on an 84 liter board). Even more impressive was the fact I was sailing my Start - clearly not a speed needle. It was sort of remedial windsurfing for me since I'd been lagging in my sailing lately. But it turned out quite well - lots of planning on the 6.2, and plenty of whitecaps. Eddie was blazing by on his formula with giant sail and Micah continue to improve his skills.

You got the best of it. The wind never fulfilled the forecast at Van Pugh. Just patches of wind. We all under rigged because nobody wanted to get caught out if the forecast wind showed up. I've sailed a lot lately and every time until today, the gusts exceeded forecast. Today was the opposite. Not that having a 9.5 would have made that much more difference. Most sails were 7.5-8.5 range.
Great turn out people wise. The wind? Not so much. For a lot of people who came out for the first time this season, I hope they weren't dissuaded.
Sat. I sailed the Bay at Coyote Point. Launched with a 5.3m & got thrashed by the big swell. Switched to a 4.7m & then had a great time riding the swelled w/o being overpowered. About 15 WS & 5 kiters on water. Great group & super fun time. I'll post a few photos when I get home.
Van Pugh around lunch.

David,
Galt's is at Lake Allatoona (NW metro Atlanta) and Van Pugh is at Lake Lanier (NE Metro ATL).
I should clarify... The entire name is Galt's Ferry Park. It is near Acworth, Ga.

For some reason my last post didn't seem to work and I can't edit it. Here's a little of today's action at Galts.
