Chasing the Dragon

Barefooting
You try to barefoot and someone throws a windsurfer at you.
It starts when you have your first session, the world is peaceful, everything is perfect, you're thrilled, but in the best way possible. But, soon, it starts wearing off. Fast. Your mind races, you're pulled out of your dream world. You crave the it more and more, wanting to feel the same way...

If you've been unable to make it out the past few days, watching the trees bend is probably driving you a little insane. You can see the wind. You can feel the wind. You can imagine skipping over the waves. You can imagine driving throught that jibe (well, maybe you can't do that yet...). But you can't get there, to the beach, to the parking lot, to the grassy area where you rig. You are stuck. You have an appointment, a client, a responsibility.

All hope is not lost. Through the miracle of the intertubes, you can feed your affliction even when you can't be on the water. Here are a few temporary "fixes".

I just ran across this blog, Sand, surf and saltwater via the Maui Surf Report. Since my Swedish skills are lacking, I can't tell you much about the young lady who takes all the pics but they phenomenal. On her first page alone, there seem to be as much as you would have seen in a year's subscription of a print mag.

Speaking of the Maui Surf Report, they have a couple of great recent posts (both available currently via their first page):

- best day of my life

- jumping shoot

windsurfer 12 o'clock high

And, finally, for your video pleasure, two from youtube. The first, a short from the Minds Wide Open DVD, features Philip Köster doing some jumps on his way off the beach. The second is the movie, Rail to Rail, forty minutes of joy that can also be viewed in 1080p. Enjoy!
