March is here, and so is the wind!

Windy Wednesday, but may be too stormy,
Thursday has wind, but not too much
Firday has alot of wind.

Probably not today (wed) but hopefully Thurs and Fri I'm in.

The Thursday Van Pugh after lunch book club will hold it's regular meeting today for any who can attend.

Today, we'll be discussing this wonderful book about FranCois-Andre Vincent by Elizabeth Mansfield

Count me in Fri. at Van Pugh.

Right now sitting on a plane in DC. Got a free extra stop in Norfolk on way up as flight was diverted due to high winds.

Maybe Friday....Webguy's book is too advanced for me. I will bring a book that is more my speed

Notice how my coloring book illustrates the waves the same as VP on a west.

That coloring book is cute!

Foilguys 1 and 2 were in attendance today along with Chris P. Gene came by and watched for a bit. Wind was weird - switched from west to NW and even N at one point. Very gusty. Foilguys rigged 7s and then 5s and went back to 7s. C.P. got in about a half hour of 5.8.

Wow, just looked at the Gilmer readings and they were low for what was on the water. Barrett rigged 7.0, I had a 6.0 and Chris P. a 5.2. We were all happy. Some holes but surprisingly breezy; I'm guessing 12 to low 20s. I was able to plane through about half my jibes so no lack of wind.

I agree with webguy - way more wind that reported at Gilmer A.P. I was so powered up on the 7.0m, I would have been OK on a 6.0m until late in the afternoon. Jim stopped by, but didn't sail. Gene stopped by to report that he'd kited with Delozier at Old Federal.

I think I have been over estimating wind speeds. I've thought that you started seeing wihte caps at around 15mph, but my new wind meter lowers that down to caps around 10-12 mph. Yesterday, my windmeter on the beach with the wind blowing straight on shore, pretty much matched what Gilmer read.

Also, there were at total of 4 kiters on the water yesterday, just enough for someone to always be in my way.
