btw, you broke Roswell

Says that it is specific to Don Carter park. (Isn't that Langdon's local hang out?) about 18-19 miles from Van Pugh. map: https://goo.gl/maps/Ui6n67zVizQ2

e. coli which means likely that either the geese have been pooping or somebody flushed out a chicken house.

I was wondering about the location - how far it is from the usual launches. If it's the turkey's - we should all have immunity since they routinely poop all over the grass everywhere on the lake, and the river as well.

Seems to me that there are plenty of warnings of the end of days happening now with the ground rising and falling, in various places in our city.

I have not sailed from Don Carter. I often sail southwest ( downstream ) from DC at Holly Park on a South.
I will try and not fall in as often

Thanks for the correction.

That's kind of like saying "this water has e-coli well within the drinkable standards" at Van Pugh.

There's always e. coli in the water. It just depends how much. The water fowl and house boats make sure of it.

Doesn't matter as the ban has been lifted: http://www.gainesvilletimes.com/section/6/article/123339/

"While runoff into streams and drainages can carry contaminants into Lake Lanier, one of the biggest causes of bacteria spikes is Canada geese."

I hope to stress my immune system in the near future. Biggrin

Yeah - I usually where medical exam gloves in the hooch and a wet suit at the hooch, followed by a chlorinated water shower at the end.

oops, Randy responded to a comment that I'd edited. Here's the original:

Quote:
What level of E. coli is acceptable?

The acceptable level of E. coli is determined by risk analysis based on statistics to protect human health. Drinking water should have no E. coli after treatment. E. coli levels at designated swimming beaches should not exceed 88 per 100 milliliter (mL) in any one sample, or exceed a three-sample average over a 60-day period of 47/100mL. Recreational waters that are not designated beaches should not have more than 406 E. coli/100mL in any one sample, or more than 126/100mL in a 60-day, three-sample average. Occasional higher numbers are not unusual, particularly after storm events and where urban or agricultural runoff occurs. These levels are generally not considered unsafe unless investigation indicates the source to be sewage.

Can I drink my lake water?

Because E. coli are present in all warm-blooded animals, including ducks, beaver, and sea gulls, it is highly unlikely that any lake will have zero E. coli without treatment. Even with no E. coli, lake water is still not safe to be used directly as a source of drinking water. Without adequate treatment there can be no guarantee concerning the safety of the water.

Here are some recent levels for the 'hooch in Norcross. (I think someone I know paddles there. Biggrin )

Chattahoochee River at Norcross: The last E.coli water sample was taken on Thursday 04/27 at 11:25 AM; the measured E. coli count was 126

Speaking of the 'hooch, your post made me look up hazmat suits to find a suitable pic. But, I found these instead. Much.More.Interesting. However, I'm not really sure I want to know what these hazmat suits are for. You can find them in a dark corner of ebay that I hesitate to link to.

Fortunately, all we normally do with Hooch water is drink it.
