I see a dot Friday afternoon. An actual dot. For real.

An actual Dot - Dot Warner.

I loved Animaniacs. Seriously under-rated. Like classic Warner cartoons, a complete separate level of adult jokes. If you enjoyed the better WB classic cartoons (Chuck Jones and Co.) check out Animaniacs clips on youtube and Pinky and Brain while you are at it.

That sounds pessimistic. The rest of us are planning to be on the water this weekend. Biggrin

I may give VP a shot today as well sometime before lunch and see if I can get on the water for an hour and remember how this stuff works. Tomorrow either looks more promising or will be more stormy.

Barrett reported that Van Pugh had parking issues at 12:30 and he was headed over to Old Fed. Randy and David D (and Dixie) are already at Old Fed. I'll be heading to Old Fed shortly.

Re: Sat - Sun?

It was a pretty nice day - I sailed my 6.0 with 152 litre Techno from about 12:30 to 3. Planed about half the time. Also flew some kites and shot some video. I would have saved this for "Cat Video" times, but why not. Dave rode with his 14 M kite. Gene was helping bring new kiters over to the dark side, while Barrett, Chris, Langdon and Tim windsurfed on sails in the 6-8.5 range. If only it was this warm in January.

I agree with Randy, it's hard to beat a breezy summer Sunday at the Lake. I overcame the gusty conditions at Old Federal by sailing upwind past the islands to the main body of the Lake. Despite waves from passing boats there was enough wind to stay on a plane with my 8.5m & JP light wind board.

This. Other than keeping your kite buds company or earlier closing times, if you can't make it to VP, go to Sunrise. Sunrise is pretty much already on the channel and with yesterday's W/SW wind, has a nice long fetch. When I'm sailing from Sunrise, I only drop down to Old Federal if there's enough wind to make it back up and out of the "hole" without too much trouble. All the same, glad everyone there seemed to enjoy things.

We had six at Van Pugh: Chris, Lucas, Ed, Dimitri and Jowell (and me, of course, for those "literally" counting). Lucas and Dimitri are just climbing the learning curve and did very well. Ed and Dimitri survived the 10 minute blast late afternoon by fortuitously stopping by the islands to rest and were there when it hit. I was already off the water.

Jowell gets the Heartbreak Award for the weekend. He showed up later when it seemed to have died off a bit - big cloud to the south seemed to be sucking up the wind. Then it seemed to freshen up so he decided to rig. He heads out. Almost gets flattened by a jetski - it was so close, he was obscured by the spray, all 10.3 sq. m. of him. Then the big gust (30-35 mph) hits. Pretty much all in the same first run off the beach. When the wind lets up, he comes in and then watches the wind pretty much die. Ugh.

I got there around 1 pm when Crispy was driving out towards Old Fed. Chucked my gear out of the van and parked up at the top of the hill. I sailed the big kit (Formula board/9.5) and was pretty much lit for the whole afternoon. Not having sailed since June is taking its toll this morning since I'm all sorts of sore. As Barrett said, sailing warm fresh water is a wonderful pleasure.

The gust that hit late afternoon played hell on the picnic-ers. Saw one poor family having a birthday celebration get its table cleared like it was the jet blast from a 777. Really felt for them.

Jack and Jacky, our gate attendants, are finished for the season Sept. 12. I was thinking of getting them a cookie cake or something. Any better ideas? They really make the park nice with the smile at the gate.

That sounds like a nice idea Webster.

As for VP v. Old Fed - I thought we were supposed to boycott VP.
