A guy got lifted on to an adjacent road in gusty 30-50 mph winds a couple of weeks ago. No update on his condition.
A good discussion about it (without dwelling on the crap in the media): http://www.bayareakiteboarding.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13862
pages 3-4 are where the better comments are.
SF is a very windy place.
OB [Ocean Beach] regulars own 5m's,and were not talking small guys
my smallest 6m,and i have been op'd on it there & next to impossible to self land in those conditions .
vid mentioned which shows how quickly things go wrong and the need to quickly decide to punch out decisively
Stay safe out there.

I thought intelligent dialogues were pretty much forbidden in any type of wind related sport. People who are intelligent don't rely on wind.
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
Au contraire. Intelligent people gladly use the wind for recreation.

Apologies, Randy. Realized you were talking about us (as a group).
You're right. We do bring down the average.
Oh, I was just having a bad day after driving to MAP to use the wind for a theoretically useful purpose (recreation) and failing to do so because of lack of wind.......The worst part came when I asked some lady who had been swimming if there was any wind and she said "No - it's dead calm!!!" like that was a good thing.
