America's Cup Presentation !

America’s Cup Presentation (February 9th) – Tucker Thompson, the official Host of the 35th America’s Cup, is now conducting the America’s Cup Yacht Club Tour delivering live, multi-media presentations about the America’s Cup to interested Yacht Clubs and organizations worldwide. The program includes an overview of the Cup’s storied history, a chance to relive the dramatic comeback of AC34, an update from the ongoing Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series events, and an inside look at what to expect for AC35 in Bermuda.
Tucker will be doing a presentation for Lake Lanier Sailing Club on February 9th. Because this is a Tuesday, we are holding this at Nemoe’s Tavern & Grill in Norcross located at 6025 Peachtree Pkwy, Norcross, GA 30092. Their number is (770) 263-7101. They have a ballroom in the back where the presentation will be held. Cost will be $20/person, will include a buffet dinner, and will be collected at the door. Dinner will start at 6p. Presentation will start at 7:30p and should last about 1 ½ hours.
Please go to LLSC.com to register to attend the event. You don't have to be an LLSC member to attend.

Re: America's Cup Presentation !

Pretty interesting. Looking at going to Chicago for the LV series event in June. Gonna have a neat set-up for spectating.

Surprising factoid– the boats will be able to go foil to foil while going upwind, maintaining speed through the tack. So instead of losing ground to competition on each tack, your VMG (progress to the upwind mark) improves with each tack. Crazy. Shok This will make for lots more action!

Maybe I'm more of an idiot than usual but wouldn't this imply that going upwind will just look like a couple of salmon swimming upstream? If covering forces your opponent to tack, is that a bad thing now or still a good thing?
