    BigAir,

We have a group of about 15 of us that actively kite Lanier. Old Federal is the preferred launch site on anything with a Westerly component which covers most windy days. We've had...

Kiters might take a look at West Bank park. Its a fairly good N launch for windsurfing. There is a little cove you have to make it out of, but now that the water is down, that may not be a...

I could that happening in SF bay if someone got too close to the airport but I dont think the video is real

    Emilio,

You and I had some luck with Athens Park on a North wind a couple of years back. On a N wind there shouldn't be much if any wind shadow and you should be able to sail up the main...

Knowledgeable Windsurfers. Where do think could be good for kitters on a NORTH wind direction?

If anybody has a copy of the last WS magazine (w/ the ChucK H. article), can you bring it to the meeting?

Nicholas - you are facing several challenges. As Albert said, you come out when other windsurfers are out, you are sure to get help and advice - the big problem here is that on a light wind...

    Nicholas,

We are all a very friendly group and will be more than happy to help out.

Usually someone posts here (in the forum) when they are heading out and where they are going. We...

We went to Old Federal (kiters) and have a so-so day. We were able to go out and have fun between 3 and 5pm. After that it kind started changing directions and wasn't consistent enough for more...

What's involved in setting up a beach-cam? That would the ultimate- perhaps off the point at Aqualand looing toward VP with an on-screen graphic showing wind direction & speed, air & water...

I'm looking at heading up to Old Federal for another kiting day at the beach... anyone interested? I'm likely going to get there around 3:30pm.

I've tried without success to patch it. You might have some success by pushing some sort of adhesive underneath. Same stuff as you use to stick a patch on it.

    Marek,

I would take your full wet suit in addition to a shorty (unless you have a full length one with short sleeves). The water can still be pretty cold in mid summer.

    Why don't you...

Members can rent a "dry slip" at LLSC and put whatever you want on it (on a trailer). I think it's around $350/yr.

  • by Anonymous 16 years 9 months ago

I've been thinking about it too. Depends on whether we get some wind.

  • by Anonymous 16 years 9 months ago

We leave Saturday. Should be there by 3 pm Sat.

    Ray,

Where did you live in Spain? I've spent a lot of time in Spain and even windsurfed in Huesca (North of Zaragoza) and in Porto (Portugal).

I already have an IWindsurf account that I use at Nags Head & for travel. I find the service to be worth the annual fee. A wind sensor on the water at Lanier would be great!

I bought 98 & 84 liter JP freestyle-wave boards in 2001 and have been really happy with their all-around performance. Two years ago on San Francisco Bay & at the Delta, the 84L JP...

We typicall sail at Van Pugh Park on Lake Lanier. Sorry, but there is no public gear storage facility. Marinas on the Lake offer storage for a fee, but the windsurfers I know bring their gear...

    Kristian,

I'm all hooked up with tickets/reservations etc.

I will be there June 30th to July 8th.

Will I need a full wet suit or just the shorty?

For the past two years, I've never used anything other than a full length thin dive skin when diving. As for windsurfing, only a rash guard will do. The water is warm and it's 90 degrees there...
