I've given up trying to jibe

Years down the toilet and nothing. This looks easier:

There's a trick to it. Just bend your knees. Also, don't plane all the way through your jibes. Makes it a lot easier.

Of course, you bend your knees. How else does one pedal a unicycle? Shok

I'm glad this wasn't around when I started windsurfing. I'd have never taken up anything that requires 480 pages of instruction. I don't read the "Quick Start" guide when I get a new Tech item.

No worries. I'm willing to bet most of us have never gotten past the material on p. 10. Biggrin

I never even read the sticker on my Mistral boards after the word Auchtung. Sounded bad. I figured it was kind of like the side effect warnings that come with medicines. You read them and pretty soon you will have the side effects. Better not to know.

Re: I've given up trying to jibe

Years ago, someone (maybe Patrick Kirkland) had the Tricktionary book with the videos (probably version #1) and loaned it to me when I was down in tarpon springs for a few weeks. I remember it was a very cool book, kind of like Peter Hart's showing off #1 and #2 videos to the extreme.

Problem is that jibing (and all the other tricks) require some movement of air...which we have a major shortage of.

Wind doesn't help all of us, sadly.

Apparently, it's hard if the wind is upside down (Aussie). Lots of wind, bear off, make sure you are in front of friends, in front of camera, oversheet...

I can do that. Done it hundreds of times though I usually get some air out of it as I'm hurtling forward off the front of the board.

I keep hoping he gets it right the next time. Biggrin

I think he suffered an accidental "rehook". I think it happens more with chest harnesses. You go into the jibe and the harness lines rehook themselves when you oversheet. It doesn't happen often but is more likely to occur when you have an audience and are going hard for a flash.
