Friday June 23rd

Hopefully sailing tomorrow after lunch.
Wind are SW favoring S
Is Vanns a better launch than Old Fed when the winds favor S?

Edit:
If forecast holds ... Vanns Tavern

Pick your poison. If the wind is more like SW, then Old Fed would probably be better. If it is more S, then Vann's is probably better. At Vann's you could probably sail out of the obstructions (islands) and get to pretty good area by going east. It would take a lot longer to do that from OF. (In fact, you would pretty much be sailing over to Vann's.)

However, S or SW winds generated by a Trop. Storm probably are going to be pretty fickle and erratic. S winds are almost never good in the first place and TS winds often are more annoying than anything. That said, I'll probably be going somewhere as well. I may hope it is due S and go to Mary Alice or possibly Tidwell. Neither place is much good if there is much W in it though.

Another possibility would be Keith Bridge. SSW would be a pretty much onshore type direction. That launch kind of sucks because you need to get up wind in narrow cove, but with the water low may not be bad at all.

FML. Actual email. This after Comcast business internet connection was down 5+ hours last night from 7 pm which is why web site was down. I was on with support at 12:30 am since a down connection is a bad thing at the office.

Quote:
Hi webguy,

They are going to be there around lunch time, 12-1PM estimate
arrive if nothing goes wrong with the 1st job in Roswell. I will put in
a note for them to call you before heading out to you.

Thank you,

Redline of the first draft of the email.

Hi Atlanta Boardsailing Club webguy,

I know earlier works better because you want to go foiling. But we are about as indifferent to that as our customer support people were at 1230 am last night. They are going to be there around lunch time despite the fact that there some wind in the forecast and this will pretty screw you up, 12-1PM estimate
arrive if nothing goes wrong with the 1st job in Roswell like as if that has ever happened. I will put in
a note for them to call you before heading out to you. They probably won't even read it, and may or may not call you before showing up sometime between 8 am and 9pm.

Thank you for putting up with our lousy customer support, but then what choice to you have,

Oops. Some confusion. Install is for a kitchenette counter top. The Comcast incident is incidental and at she who makes all things possible's office. You thought Comcast would come out within 24 hours for a residential repair? ROFL

Comcast's response time is the reason we have ATT Fiber now (and saving $30/month). After telling them for three days that my internet was out because of a tree that fell down the street and took out some wires including power and them telling me that something must be wrong with my computer, modem, etc, they then scheduled someone to come to the house to "look at it." for the following week. I told them it was a race between their technician and the ATT install. First one here won. Yes, I actually had ATT schedule and install new service faster than I could get Comcast come to fix the problem. I cancelled Comcast after declaring a winner yet they never bothered to tell the technician who actually showed up the day after the new install. He was actually happy as it meant he got to go home early that day.

Well, you have to admit, were it actually comcast, it would have been pretty accurate. My experience with them was similar. Suddenly my cable quit working. Many calls and complaints later no service. I then noticed my yard had 2 boxes, so I hooked up a cable to the unused box and solved the problem. When they finally did arrive, the tech said "Gee looks like you need to get your cable buried." I had other problems with them on other occasions. I threatened to switch to ATT and they were quite unimpressed. (We had also have terrible service from ATT so I just bluffing then.) Finally, I threatened to complain to Fulton County who is the regulator who gives them their franchise. That seemed to finally get their attention.

Now I have Direct TV, which at least its' failures are predictable - it fails during T-storms.

You should live in my neighborhood. The power fails during thunderstorms because limbs and trees. You'd never know your DirectTV was out.

Praying for the day when Google Fiber finally gets here.

Based on the forecasts, I'm blowing off FL for Lanier. I suggest LLSC for SW wind.

I may join you later tonight. Who knows the secret gate code? What time do they close?

Well, we saw Ed in the channel. He made it to Vann's. It was probably as good since the wind was so south. Foildood, Dave D., Roger and I did LLSC. The kiters had 15 and 17s respectively while Chris and I did 6.5 and 6.0 on wings. Saw CP, Langdon and Ed in the channel. Off the beach at LLSC it was 7-15 maybe while out in the channel it was 10-20. Gusty but no complaints as it's June. Made it home just as the raindrops started.
