Maybe there was a reason why no one else showed up at Old 41. More a nostalgia type thing on my part I guess. The best part - it was blowing when I was rigging and blowing when I was breaking my sail down. In between? Not so much.
You guys do any better at Tequila Sunrise?

With Sunrise closing at 5PM and VanPugh being full, we sailed at Old Federal. After all the driving around, the wind dropped, so it was a big board day with brief episodes of planing in the gusts. Langdon said he had plenty of wind in the morning.
Sunday late afternoon 5pm till sunset.
Parking lot was empty, you culd be in a wetsuit and dont swet, wind was shifting from EN to N and back. Good clearing wind. Sail 8.5, sometimes OP, but over all very very nice session.
I am in for Saturday.
Launch? Sunrise?
I think between the crowds and wind direction, that would be a good call.
Ok, I will be at Sunrise before 11am
Forecast looks promising. I'm in if there's wind.

How's the launch at sunrise for kites?
David S.
Not really sure. On SW it's a bit side shore. There's not that much beach but there may be enough exposed with the water down.
Live report from Sunrise
Small whitecaps, steady wind
Looks like this for David S
Photo taken looking directly into the wind
Anybody up for Old 41? Bill? Micah? Anyone?

Noon report sunrise lots of caps. I may rig 6
Park sign says closes at 5
Plenty of space for kites
Wind has enough west that van Pugh should be good. Not many boats on water here
Parking lot is full at Van Pugh the lady at the gate is turning people away.

I'm gonna give it a try again today at Sunrise or Vann's Tavern I think. Similarly got skunked yesterday and need to get some water time!!

Perhaps the morning the winds were better, then it heated up and Dr. Webster's dreaded dome effect took over.
