Holiday Party!!!!

Celebrate the Season!

Make plans for the Club's Spectacular Seasonal Soireé* on December 3 at 7 pm. Please contact anyone you know who windsurfs/kitesurfs or is even interested in these sports as all are invited.

We have arranged for the use of the neighborhood clubhouse at Grogan's Bluff in Sandy Springs.

The Club will provide a ham and soft drinks. BYOB and a side dish to share (Please RSVP here with what you plan bring, to avoid duplication).

If you like, bring a gift for the zany White Elephant Gift Exchange– unused gear, something fun or crazy... anything goes!

Grogans Bluff Clubhouse: 8110 Grogans Ferry Rd, 30350. From GA 400/US19, Exit 6 Northridge Rd and go west to Roswell Rd/Hwy 9. Turn left/south and travel .75 miles to Grogans Ferry Rd on the right. Continue .2 mile to just beyond the end of the median to the clubhouse on the left.

*Must be present to enjoy

Always in.

Remember, if you don't come, you'll make a puppy sad. Stop puppy sadness. Come to the party. (Is the guilt thing working yet?)

Re: Holiday Party!!!!

The question has come up to explain the White Elephant Gift Exchange.

We just bring a wrapped gift. It can be something funny, silly, stupid, or quite useful, but that you simply don't need or don't have any use for. (Hint - this is the special place in heaven for re-gifting.) If it is windsurfing related all the better but not necessary. It needn't be anything of high value (more than 10 to 20 dollars). We then put the gifts on a table and give everyone a number. We draw the numbers and the first person selected gets to select whatever gift they want and unwrap it. As other numbers are drawn people have the option to take either an unwrapped gift from the prior owner, or one remaining wrapped gifts. If someone takes your unwrapped gift then you may select another from the wrapped gifts. It gets pretty funny after a while.

Gifts given in the past have been things like windsurf boards (though not the kind that anyone usually wants) harness lines, fins, bottles of booze, roller skates, clothing items, photographs, toys from dollar stores and on an on. The gift needn't be new or expensive and if they have a gag element so much the better.

Webster, AJ, TinFoilHatMan am I missing anything here?

Re: Holiday Party!!!!

Randy covered it quite well.

Personally, I put some sh*t in the closet months ago awaiting the chance to dump it on somebody at the party. Hopefully, in return, I'll score a nice bottle of wine. Diablo

Things I've seen in the past: a suit of armor, old wetsuit booties, nice bottles of beverages, nice bits of windsurfing kit, bunny slippers.

btw, kids, family members, friends all welcome. Only thing necessary is a tolerance for endless conversation about windsurfing and some kiting.

Re: Holiday Party!!!!

about 10 years ago I snagged the Surfing Santa Light Decoration, if anyone remembers that item. It decorated my kitchen for years every Christmas. I loved it. I kept it for about 8 years and then returned it to the gift exchange. I wonder where it is now? Someone has it.

I loved that thing.

I have the windsurfing santa, LOVE IT!

I'm not going to make it to the party this year, try not to mess up the gift exchange without me.

Re: Holiday Party!!!!

Since you are out of town, I may just stop by and retrieve that windsurfing Santa.

Do you remember about 3 years ago when you gave me a key to the garage door?

Gene - you tried to link a photo in your email account. Upload it or put it in a public place to get linked.

We'll miss you. Who else can run a gift exchange better than you?

Re: Holiday Party!!!!

My family and I had a good time. Someone took a picture of me enjoying the festivities.

The Aunt Fannies killed once again. Randy is a great host. Barrett may be in the running for an Oscar for best short documentary. Peelskid brought three generations. Glad for all those who came, missed those who couldn't make it.
