They're predicting up to 30mph gusts today here in Nashville. Already at 15 g19. Heading to the lake and hoping for a good day!

Re: Tues, Wed, Thurs

Went to Disappointment River today. Looked very promising, but lived up to its name. As a special added bonus, I found that one of my sails has long past the "sell by" date as the mast crashed through the top of the luff sleeve. Guess its better than finding that out on the water......Tomorrow**? Where's Annie when we need her?

** In just two days, tomorrow will be yesterday....

Thanks for reporting today's conditions. Unfortunately sounds like a trip to the "Sail Angel".

I plan on sailing tomorrow afternoon at Van Pugh.

Today turned out surprisingly good. Wind had a lot of south so you had to be all the way in the channel. Mostly 12.18 with a few lulls.
Going back for seconds tomorrow

Sailed Old Federal for about 3 hours. It was good in front of and past the island shadow

If you don't hear anything, at least PM windlord. Don't know if he can make it but I'm sure he'd appreciate your thinking of him.

If the wind kicks in, Windlord hopes to be at Galt's this afternoon (Thu). I came to work prepared with the Techno Formula and 11.0 Retro.

Randy, FWIW somewhere in this forum are pics of a head strap repair I did using using grommets, cord, and a plastic head cap. It's on the 11.0 Retro and has worked for years. -Bill H.

Well we had fun on Percy Priest lake in Nashville. Wind was very shifty and full of holes, but the gusts were plentiful. We didn't get the 30mph blasts, more like 25 at best for the biggest gusts. I was on 94 liters and 6 meters (first time leaving the 7.5 in the car since I moved to the area in July), and gf was on 122 liters and 6m also.

Re: Tues, Wed, Thurs

Mr. B (arrett) planed early on an 8.5 and the Orange Express (JP Super Lightwind) while Mr. Crispy (Chris P.) sailed his Mistral Superlight and a 7.0. I rigged wide and big and had a happy afternoon. There were lulls but it blew pretty well allowing for working way upwind and long sleigh rides back down.

Big thing I've learned on the Ezzy 9.5 is to back off the outhaul pretty considerably from the boom setting in lighter winds. I was probably 6-8 cm in today and didn't feel overpowered at all even when the gusts were around 20. Downhaul was about in the middle. I was inspired by seeing how full the RS:X fleets had their sails even upwind in Rio. Also worked on really trying to ride the fin upwind when well-powered. It's a weird feeling to rail the board that far leeward and feels squirrelly at times but it adds about 10 degrees to the upwind angle and seems to steady out the lulls.

A bit chilly at 70 when derigging. What's worse is that in three months, 70 will seem like a heat wave. I'll miss September.

It was solid 8.2 day at Old Fed, but I rigged 7.3 so planning was sketchy on my 145 litre. The windsup, however, did very well. Gene sailed his windsup at first, then went to his 115 litre with 7.5. Roger used a 17 meter kite and probably did better than either of us.
