Tomorrow, Tues 3/17?

Forecast is for some wind and warm, I can go if it happens.

I'll go if it's warmy and wind. Or, windy and warm. Or, some combination thereof. Tomorrow's forecast is the precise reason I begged off on some of those 35 degree days a couple of weeks back.

I am thinking about going to Allatoona today around 4-5pm. Galts is right around the corner from my office. Water temp is 52 and rising. Could use some company/advice for a rookie.

Micah, we'd love for you to pop over to Van Pugh but given traffic, you would literally never get there leaving that late in the afternoon. Maybe Windlord or one of the other Allatoona regulars will show up. If it blows east sometime, we'll come up and keep you company.

Have fun today and let us know how it goes.

Jim C., Peelskid, Chris P, Gene and I showed up. Jim C. decided to take a pass while Gene went off to Old Federal to meet up with D. DeLozier and play with kites.

Wind didn't really kick in until 2 ish. Periods of 15-25 followed by 10. Dome effect looked like it was pretty strong as all the surrounding weather stations were showing wind and the wind didn't kick in on the lake until it cooled off a little. CP sailed his 6.7 while I started out with a 9.5 and then rigged down to something close to Peelskid's 7.5.

Re: Tomorrow, Tues 3/17?

I was scared at first. Pyron told me not to fall in if I didn't want to get cold. Powerful language that Pyron was using. I suited up in the dry suite, rigged at 7.5 and put everything in the water. Tim Carter always told me, if it is cold, go ahead and get it over with by going under water before you launch. This is exactly what I did. The Dry Suit and my booties worked better than expected. However, my hands and head felt the furry of that water temperature.

I sailed for 1.5 hrs and missed several tacks and jibes so in the water I went, just as expected. Got to get my windsurfing muscles back in shape. Plus I did 65 miles on the dirt bike on Sunday then 94 miles on Monday then windsurf on Tuesday. Great timing for having fun but I am one tired puppy now.

My goal this year is to sail whenever anyone else goes out. Rain or shine, wind or no wind.
