Miami RSX championship - Greek B.Kokkalanis strikes podium

Byron last year took the gold. Impressively consistent, this year finished 3rd, despite the difficulties he faces in his effort, due to the lack of financial support by the Greek state.

Looks like he's winning more than just windsurfing. Any congratulations I could give would be superfluous.....

I believe you misunderstand what's happening in this picture, Randy. He's merely lifting her. That's how Greek windsurfers strength train.

What do we lift here in the States? Yes, dumbbells. I do think this is a preferable alternative.

If the USOC adapted this strategy instead of having our athletes live in tents or board bags, I think our program would be much more successful. Certainly, we'd have a larger pool of participants.

Not a great US result. Carson Crain looked to be the highest ranked Americanat 41. A lot of the US men and women at the bottom of the list are actually Jrs so hope for the future. The women were relatively much more competitive with placings in the teens.

Men's results

Women's results

RS:X men at beginning

RS:X women at 2:57

RS:X women then men at 3:11

If you've ever raced, you'll understand how impressive this start is:

I feel like a dumbbell know, after learning that. I've been doing weight training the stupid way. Sign me up for the Greek weight training course. Do they have it at LA Fitness? Gold's Gym?

Dunno Randy. You've been off the water a while flying kites. Maybe you ought to start with these until you've built up your stamina. I think if you went straight into a program like Bryon's, you might blow a gasket. Wink
