I think I'll wait to use the porta potty at Sunrise Cove

until late spring, at least.

ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ/AP) - Authorities have identified a man whose decomposed body was found inside a portable toilet at a Lake St. Clair boat launching site.

St. Clair Shores police say a 63-year-old former resident of nearby Grosse Pointe Woods, was identified through a combination of fingerprints, cellphone records and other information.

[The] remains were found last weekend by a security guard at a municipal boat launch on 9 Mile Road near Jefferson Avenue, about 10 miles northeast of Detroit. Autopsy results found that he died of hypothermia.

Police said the remains were so decomposed, it appears [he] could have been dead inside the portable toilet for about five months. Investigators said [], who was homeless after a foreclosure in 2010, may have been using the toilet for shelter during the frigid, snowy winter.

The boat launch site had been closed since October. Authorities said the security guard broke down the portable toilet’s door, which was locked from the inside, and discovered the remains.

What a gruesome story! This reminds me that early last winter I was talking with one of the rangers who happened to drive by at Van Pugh Park. Apparently a decomposing body was found at Chestnut Ridge Park across the inlet from Van Pugh. The cause of death had not been determined, but it seemed similar to the story you posted.

Hopefully we'll soon have a nice sunny day with breeze in the trees and a temperature well above freezing. We don't want a windsurfer to be found in the bathroom at Van Pugh frozen into his wetsuit.

FLOWERY BRANCH — Heavily decomposed human remains were found Thursday (2013) at a closed-to-the-public park on Lake Lanier.

#Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman 1st Lt. Stephen Wilbanks said a crew contracted to clean up Chestnut Ridge Park made the unsettling discovery of what appeared to be human remains wrapped in a blanket inside a bathroom. At about 2 p.m., they called authorities to the park just outside Gwinnett County lines, a short drive off Gaines Ferry Road near McEver Road.

Barrett,
That one is even darker. She was (allegedly) strangled by a girl friend. Meth was (allegedly) involved.

Reminds me that one time I was sailing at a small park in Destin. Upon arrival I saw a Police car in the lot, and headed to the rest room to change. Inside I saw all kinds of blood smeared over the wall and floor and on a rusty box cutter on the floor. No bodies - decomposing or otherwise. The officer was unaware of it, and called it in. Did creep me out a little. Not enough to skip sailing though.

On a related note, tip for newbies: Don't buy a used wetsuit from Webguy....
