A virtual treasure trove circa 1988. It's like time stood still in someone's garage.
PSA: Newbies - other than the long boards, this stuff is pretty much useless. Don't even be tempted. Gene has newer stuff (by 10 years) he's pretty much giving away. Good wall art, though.

Wall Art Indeed.
Although I wasn't into the sport when I was 5 years old (in 1988), this stuff makes me wish I hadn't missed the glory days. It would be nice to not be the only one on the lake - or the ocean/bay for that matter.
Btw, If you travel to the Fort Lauderdale airport via Southwest, there is a huge windsurfing mural behind the bar in that terminal. Lately I have been in that airport every couple of weeks. It's like, "hey dude, you just missed out on a lot of fun. Better luck next time."
Also, this month's Southwest magazine had a windsurfing centerfold - below.
Since we are going down memory lane - this week marks my 20th anniversary in Windsurfing. It was when the Olympic Blight hit Atlanta that we decided to get out town and head for the beach. I saw a couple of guys windsurfing and decided to take lessons.

Wait... what? ajc.com used to be printed on paper? What sort of last century sorcery was this?
Ah... the good old days. When lifting my big plastic board caused a back spasm so bad I missed work - a desk job - for two days. If my first board had been my *board Freeformula or even my Hifly 120, my life would have been so much better.

Glad it was the ATL Olympics. I don't think looking at the water for this year's windsurfing is going to encourage anyone.
Congratulations on your milestone. If my progress is any measure, in another 15 years you'll suck as badly as me.
Probably sooner since I am getting worse much more quickly than I got better.....

Apparently, you are the exception that the Olympics inspiring you to become more active/ pick up a new activity.

That was only because I left town to avoid the Olympics. Probably had Windsurfing been on TV (and I have even watched it) I would have never taken up the sport. Windsurfing is a terrible spectator sport - you quite far from the participants and its about impossible to even tell who is winning. As we all know a bit to well - on a low wind day it looks pretty uninspiring. Watching two guys sail from the beach though - was quite different and got me interested. I don't know, but they probably were not planning at the time, just cruising nicely along.
