Sunday 5/22/16 Windsurfing at Van Pugh Park, Lake Lanier

Jim C and Barrett are already either at or on the way to Van Pugh Park, Lake Lanier, Georgia for windsurfing. They will be there to windsurf (or wind surf) with their windsurfing boards. Barrett is driving from Atlanta (well, Decatur but to anybody from out of state, I'm sure he says Atlanta).

Hooray for Barrett and Jim! I hope they enjoy their windsurfing adventure! I'm so glad that they are both members of the Atlanta Boardsailing Club (where we windsurf and kiteboard and other fun stuff).

(Let's see how high this gets on the G**gle algorithm) Yahoo

I hope to be up later today - depends on family plans.

No way I will windsurf on a Sat. Sun. or holiday on this lake at this time of year. Took the Hobie Cat out and had 0 to 19 all afternoon. I never waterstarted, uphauled nor got wet. Just a few good runs with me and the dog. BTW, dog loved it.

Tomorrow is 10 to 15 NW so that again is a perfect call for the Hobie and, yes, I will be there to rescue Kiters if they come out. Old Federal tomorrow.

I heard a different version of this story.

Good to see some faces that aren't on the Van Pugh Frequent Flier list: Admiralsteve and windlord came out along with many of the usual suspects: Christofoil, Barrett the Orange, Jim C. the Board Repair dude, Ed who still has Baltic ice for blood and myself - he who showed up too late for the morning wind and derigged too soon for the evening wind. Did I miss anyone?

Trey came by in his boat and said hello. He snapped a picture of me not even close to planing. If I don't deliver a certain amount of unmarked bills in a plain manila envelope, he's threatened to post it.

There was a lot of boat traffic, but still a fun day in the sun, especially the first half of the day when it was whitecapping. Also, the water temp. broke the 70F barrier.

After a couple of hours of regret and shame, wind began to kick in. Ed and I were getting decent rides about 30-40% of the time. I finally came in around 6:15 or so and packed up. The wind seemed to persist. As I was throwing my gear into the car, it had filled in nicely into a steady 12-15. I don't know how long that lasted.

One amazing thing about a day like yesterday. After an hour of puttering about, it's mind-boggling how fast the board accelerates. On a windy day, you may not notice it. But when you spend some time going 3-4 mph, suddenly going 20 or even 25 mph feels mind-blowing.

Yeah webguy - junkies are known to go cold turkey or use weaker doses for a few days just so they can feel the rush of the full strength product too.
